Check out Khaled Hossein, author of The Kite Runner at Eisenhower Auditorium on Thursday, September 30, 2010 at 8 PM. Tickets are free for students (2 per student ID) and are open the General Public starting today.
Khaled Hosseini, critically acclaimed author of best-selling novels "The Kite Runner" and "A Thousand Splendid Suns," is the first speaker in Penn State’s 2010-11 Student Programming Association Distinguished Speaker Series. During his medical career, Hosseini began writing “The Kite Runner,” which has been published in 48 countries. His second novel, “A Thousand Splendid Suns,” published in 40 countries, was released in 2007. In 2006, he was named a goodwill envoy to the United Nations Refugee Agency. Currently, he works to provide humanitarian assistance in Afghanistan through his own foundation.
Distinguished Speaker Series tickets are available at the following locations and times:
Eisenhower Auditorium, corner of Shortlidge and Eisenhower roads, weekdays 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; HUB-Robeson Center, on Pollock Road, weekdays 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Bryce Jordan Center, corner of University Drive and Curtin Road, weekdays 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., all on the University Park campus; and the Penn State Downtown Theatre Center, 146 S. Allen St., State College, weekdays 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturdays 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The event is free and open to the public but tickets are required for admittance. Tickets are available now for students -- two issued per I.D. -- and also available starting today for faculty, staff and the general public, based on availability.
