Day 76: Have a Beer with Billy Bragg at the State Theatre

Trying to fill in some free nights in your calendar over the next month, look no further than the State Theatre in Downtown State College. 

If you're interested in beer and Billy Bragg's music, the State Theatre has teamed up with Elk Creek Cafe for the perfect night.


Billy Bragg's ecliptic blend of folk and punk, along with scratch beers brewed exclusively for the concert by the Elk Creek Cafe are sure to be a hit! The show is Wednesday, October 2 @ 8pm. Tickets are still available on the State Theatre website or at the box office, located at 130 West College Avenue in Downtown State College. Check out Bragg's music in the video below:

Check out the National Theatre's Live adaptation of King Lear at 7:00PM tonight at the State Theatre. National Theatre Live is a groundbreaking initiative to broadcast the best of British theatre to cinemas around the world. The first season of events, which began in June 2009 with the acclaimed production of Phèdre starring Helen Mirren, was seen by over 165,000 people on 320 screens in 22 countries. 

An ageing monarch. A kingdom divided. A child's love rejected. As Lear's world descends into chaos, all that he once believed is brought into question. One of the greatest works in western literature, King Lear explores the very nature of human existence: love and duty, power and loss, good and evil. The State Theatre is a non-profit community theatre dedicated to serving the Centre County region by providing a venue for theatre, dance, music, and film. Local community productions, children's theatre, local and national concerts, film festivals, "art house" and second run films are just some of the programming ideas being considered.
